Cynog Dafis – was initially a school teacher and researcher but sought to enter politics. His political carer consisted of a few subjects. Cynog Dafis was a member of parliament for Ceredigion from the year 1992 up until the year 2000. He served as a member of the Military Police for eight years and voted for the decriminalization of Homosexual law reform. Cynog Dafis married his wife in the year 1964 and together they have two sons and one daughter.

Cynog ap Brychan – better known as Saint Brychan, was an early Welsh saint and Martyr. Cynog ap Brychan was reportedly the son of a powerful Welsh prince, It is said that he was murdered on a mountain called “The Van”. His relics are said to reside at his shrine in Merthyr Cynog in Wales.

Merthyr Cynog – is a community in the county of Powys, Wales, residing in the historic county of Brecknockshire. It was recorded in 2011 by the census that there were only a mere 245 residents of the community. The Welsh name Merthyr Cynog signifies the “Shrine of Cynog” the church is dedicated to the Welsh Saint Cynog.
